THE CALL & VISION
In 2014, Pastor Sheldon Landy went on a mission trip to Honduras, where he fell in love with the people—and they fell in love with him. During this trip, he was introduced to an area where the gospel had rarely been taught. Seeing this spiritual gap, he recognized a deep need for the people to experience the love God intended for all.
After making multiple trips to this region, Sheldon realized this was fertile ground in need of hope, purpose, and opportunity. What began as a calling soon grew into a vision.
In March of 2018, Mission One Heart Honduras was born. A property in Plan Grande, Honduras, was purchased, and plans were set in motion to build a mission complex that could host mission teams from around the world.
God’s favor was evident throughout the process. While seeking approval from the local municipality to use the land, officials offered additional land on both sides of the purchased property—granting its use as long as it served God’s work. This blessing greatly expanded the impact and potential of the mission.
The mission complex is essential for effectively serving the region. It allows missionaries to stay for weeks at a time, giving them the opportunity to complete meaningful ministry work. The facility also serves the local community as a gathering place for family reunions, picnics, movie nights, Bible studies, Vacation Bible School, advanced biblical education, technical skills training, English classes, and other courses for local children.
This mission has been a tremendous blessing—not only to everyone involved in One Heart Ministries, but also to the region of Soledad and the village of Plan Grande. Local tradesmen were hired for construction, providing economic support and reinvesting directly into the community.
Today, the community is being strengthened with renewed hope and vision as possibilities begin to emerge. Our prayer partners have been blessed to see their prayers answered for God’s glory. Arguably, those most blessed are the ones who have traveled there—to build, witness, sing, love on the people, worship, and help usher in hope, purpose, and opportunity.
We believe Mission One Heart is only the seed of what is yet to come.
